audience profiling understanding

AUDIENCE.

Audience profiling is used to predict and analyse the reaction of the viewer to a film or a magazine article or any form of media. It is used to predict the behaviour of the target audience and understand the information that the viewer grasps. It is the process of defining exactly who your target audience is by monitoring consumer buying behaviour across multiple platforms. It is important to find out the lifestyle of the consumers, purchasing decisions and what social networks they use to see the chances of them willing to watch the film or find out what kind of films they would like to watch.
The audience is classified into two ways-
1.Psychographics
2.Demographics

Psychographics reflects the kind of lifestyle, class( middle class, rich or poor) and characteristics the audience live. These characteristics change from population and area to area.
Demographics reflect attributes that are constant to their identity  such as gender, ethnicity, regional identity, age and sexual orientation.

There are three types of audience-
1.Mass audience. A media form or project that can be liked and watched by everyone.
2.Niche audience.People with unique and specific interests.
3.Individual

The audience can either be Passive or Active.
Passive audience accepts and believes all messages in any form of media. Active audience interacts with media text to create meaning and develops their own interpretation.

basic idea for my opening sequence

MY IDEA

I love thriller movies! Those are the only kind of movies that I actually finish watching. The idea of making a film about a dangerous stalker came into my head because of how common it has become in India for guys to follow girls around and harass them. Some movies in Bollywood give the wrong idea to boys by showing how first the girl might not like the boy but eventually after consistently trying to persuade them can change their mind by following them or giving them unwanted texts and calls. This makes them believe that even though a girl is saying no, she means yes or will end up changing her mind. Anyways so I want to talk about how serious this could be by showing how my female lead character ignores all the love notes and gifts by the stalker which eventually ends up becoming a much bigger and serious issue.
In the opening sequence she comes home after a party. Only a few seconds after reaching home someone rings the bell. She opens the door to find a box on the floor. The story later shows that it wasn't the first time she got such an anonymous gift and that she had been saving all the gifts she got from the mysterious person in her closet only to discover a message. All the notes from the previous gifts conclude to a message saying 'finally you are mine'. She then instantly gets a notification on her phone from an unknown number. She opens the message to find a picture of her back at that moment. Too scared to turn around, she raises her head and looks straight into the camera, indicating a state of shock and fear. In the last scene you can see the stalker luring behind her.

why I have taken an opening sequence task

My reason for choosing an opening sequence task..

I have been waiting for a chance to get some of my ideas into actual work. I love shooting short skits and so taking this just gives me a reason to make another one. I already had a lot of short stories and genres in my head so this just gives me a more concrete way of portraying it. I am so excited to shoot an opening sequence, it's my first ever real shooting of anything with a professional camera and a proper cast. I relate more to an opening sequence than a magazine task because of my evident love for film making and wanting to portray stories into the screen.
I have my idea ready in my head, just need to put it into paper and I am ready to begin. This is something I really am looking forward to do and I would not have traded it for anything else!!

why media studies

why media studies?

That's a question a lot of people have already asked me so I kind of have the answer ready. Media studies is a subject that really intrigues me, the way it allows an individual to exploit their creative side and the fact that I am looking for a way to get my ideas out and improve my technique gives me the perfect opportunity to go ahead. This is something that not only is for the betterment of my future but also something I thoroughly enjoy. I used to shoot short films with my friends, write stories that would pop in my head in my diary and watch shootings of serials but now I get to put all of this into work and learn more in detail. Being able to learn about this in dept and so early is an opportunity that I know I have take advantage of. I look forward to learning media studies.

about me

ABOUT ME

hi my name is Ishika Shahi and I'm 17. That's usually the only thing I can get myself to say when someone asks me to introduce myself but today I think I have to go little deeper than that. Bollywood and television has been a huge a part of my life, actually I feel a lot of Indians feel the same way  , whether they hate it or love it because we are constantly surrounded by billboards of upcoming movies or serials, news about their personal life or the songs we dance in at every party and wedding. Since I was a kid my parents took me to the sets where I could see how a daily soap is shot and meet the actors. It really helped me understand what goes on behind the camera and all the hardworking it requires from everybody. My love for Bollywood definitely grew because of how much I love dancing. Bollywood is a completely different world, its filled with energy and our diverse culture.
When im asked whether I want to be in front or behind the camera I think my answer concludes to what im most comfortable with right now and that is behind.Though I love the art of dancing and would love to explore it but i have always seen my dad directing serials and would love to do the same. Making short films with my friends was probably my favourite thing to as a child so when I got to know that I could take a subject that requires me to do that, was the best thing that I could ask for.
